ATAK + Drone Feeds + Realtime Object Detection demo

Simulated drones fly over central Stockholm, streaming public-domain aerial footage. A YOLOv8 detector watches every feed and publishes detections as CoT markers to the FreeTAKServer instance — they appear live on your ATAK map, alongside the drone icons.

1. Connect ATAK (Android)

Install ATAK (Civilian) from Google Play (or grab v4.1 direct from the CivTAK mirror), then either unzip tak-demo.zip and import it via ☰ → Import Manager → Local SD, or add the server manually:

SettingValue
Host194.14.81.16
CoT port8087
Servers → Type / ProtocolStandard → TCP

2. Watch the drone video feeds

In ATAK: ☰ → Video → add a stream (manual) with one of:

FeedRTSP URL (ATAK / VLC / ffplay)Browser
DRONE-1 (traffic / construction)rtsp://viewer:13456d86df0272a2@194.14.81.16:8554/drone1HLS
DRONE-2 (park w/ pedestrians)rtsp://viewer:13456d86df0272a2@194.14.81.16:8554/drone2HLS
PHONEFEED (anything you publish)rtsp://viewer:13456d86df0272a2@194.14.81.16:8554/<name>HLS

Tip: navigate the map to Stockholm — the blue DRONE-1 / DRONE-2 air markers fly over the city center and Norrmalm/Djurgården. Red markers = detected persons, civilian vehicle icons = detected cars/trucks.

2b. No Android handy? Use WebTAK from any browser

https://web.194.14.81.16.sslip.io/ — a WinTAK-style situational-awareness map (GoATAK web client) connected to the same server. Log in with the shared admin credentials, watch the drones and detections with MIL-STD-2525 icons, zoom around Stockholm, and drop markers/digital pointers — they appear in ATAK too. Callsign WEBTAK, team Cyan.

Video inside the map: click any drone or detection marker in WebTAK — its live feed opens in a floating HLS player right on the map (click empty space or ✕ to close).

3. Publish a live feed from your phone

Any RTMP-capable camera app works (e.g. Larix Broadcaster on iOS/Android).

SettingValue
RTMP URLrtmp://194.14.81.16:1935/phonefeed
Usernamepublisher
Password85ba6a5129f1b946

The stream appears in ATAK/video players as phonefeed and gets detected automatically (markers cluster around the city center).

4. Server admin

ServiceURL / notes
FreeTAKServer web adminhttps://194.14.81.16.sslip.io/ — user admin (password shared separately)
CoT endpoint194.14.81.16:8087 (plain TCP, ATAK "Standard/TCP")
Security noteAll browser endpoints use HTTPS (valid Let's Encrypt certificate). Video requires username/password on top of TLS. The CoT port has no TAK-layer auth, matching the FreeTAKServer public-server demonstration setup — restrict or shut down after the demo.

Demo credentials. Rotate or tear down the stack after the event: see tak-demo/README.md on the ops machine.
